'I'm no speedster'

SHE is known as the Weekend Live presenter on SABC 2 and her name is Lebo Thinane.

She is a mother. She is a 28-year-old Meadowlands, Soweto-born television producer and studied journalism at the former Pretoria Technikon, now known as the Tshwane University of Technology.

Lebo is here to showcase her latest car, a black BMW 118i. She says driving a BMW has been her dream since she was young.

She promised herself that whenever she could afford it she was going to buy one and that is exactly what she eventually did.

She says it is a very smooth and comfortable ride.

So far she has driven the car no further than Polokwane. She says driving there from Johannesburg was such a pleasure.

"I have been driving the car for almost two years now and I should say I still feel as if I bought it yesterday because it is still powerful and fresh," she says.

She normally plays soulful music such as Pebbles, Lira and Zubz.

Talking about speed, she says she does not speed that much because she is wary of being arrested. She also sees herself as a role model who should always set a good example to society.

Asked whether she knows her way around the car she pauses for a second - then says she knows how to change a tyre.

Her show, Weekend Live, is a pacey arts, culture and lifestyle programme that falls under the SABC's News Division.

The programme is broadcast live every weekend morning between 7am and 8am.
